Using sample sites

iMIS installs with two sample sites: Member and Member Mobile. The Member site shows how to build an iPart-based site for your members and how to combine related iParts for features such as commerce and events. The Member Mobile site shows how to build a site optimized for mobile devices, such as smart phones and tablets.

The Member and Member Mobile websites are included in your list of iMIS websites:

Description: C:\Users\mconnor\AppData\Local\Temp\SNAGHTMLb2562e.PNG

By browsing to your Member website (http://yourvirtualroot/mbr), and to your Member Mobile website (http://yourvirtualroot/mobile), you can see how the iParts and pages present your current users and content. For example, if you have events currently defined and set to Show on web, you will see them populated on the Events page.

Tip: Upgrades overwrite the Member and Member Mobile websites, but you can add new content records and navigation items to the site for your own testing purposes. Upgrades will preserve your test objects.

To use the DemoDB with the sample sites

To see the sample sites in action with sample data, you can connect to the demonstration database (DemoDB). This database includes a set of users and content sufficient to experience how the iParts work together.

1.  Point your instance of iMIS to the DemoDB, which installs with iMIS.

2.  Browse to the sample sites for this instance.

3.  Sign in as Chris Baker: cbaker/cbaker.

This user has full privileges to the system, so you can exercise all aspects of content layout, iPart configuration, and use.

4.  Change the password for this user if you want to prevent unauthorized access to your demo site.

5.  If you need to personalize the demo site, consider working from your own copies of objects and records. This precaution lets you avoid losing your changes should you ever upgrade this instance of iMIS. Items affected by upgrades span the demo data and the site itself:

□    Site definition and navigation items

□    Content records, including iPart configuration, arrangement, and connection

□    User records and demo data (products, events, subscriptions)

□    ASPX pages
